The Role of GNSS Security in Drone Shows Case Study

The Role of GNSS Security in Drone Shows

On August 30, 2024, the skies above Warsaw were illuminated by the largest drone show ever held in Poland. This monumental event was a tribute to a pivotal moment in Polish history and a technological achievement, requiring precision and multiple layers of security.

Organized by ASTRANATE on behalf of the Capital City of Warsaw, this event demonstrated how several integrated safety systems can work together to ensure the safe execution of intricate drone choreography. GPSPATRON, in collaboration with DRONERADAR, played an important role in supporting the safety of this event.

Drone shows, particularly those on the scale of the Warsaw event, rely on precise positioning and synchronization provided by GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) signals.

These signals enable drones to perform complex flight paths, formations, and timing necessary for the visual spectacle. However, reliance on GNSS means that these shows must be protected against potential interference, one of many risks that could affect the performance and safety of the event.

Find out more about how GPSPATRON’s advanced interference detection technology played an essential role in this multi-layered safety approach. By proactively identifying potential disruptions, it enabled event organizers to act swiftly, enhancing preparedness and contributing to the seamless execution of the drone show.
